Chichigua

A large-scale showcase of Dominican tradition, reimagined for competition.

This challenge features oversized Chichigua kites—measured by total square footage—designed to remain airborne continuously while being controlled by a team of four participants. Each team member must weigh no more than 150 lbs, ensuring balance, coordination, and equal distribution of control as they work together to launch, stabilize, and sustain flight in coastal wind conditions. The objective is simple: maintain continuous flight with the largest kite possible. A test of teamwork, strength, and precision—rooted in culture and elevated for the festival stage.
